Unemployment information for Teme’s members

Teme’s members belong to the Open Unemployment Fund (also known as A-kassa). Those who belong to an unemployment fund through us pay 1.6 % of their gross income as a membership fee, and Teme pays this forward to A-kassa. When you have an employment, either full time or part time, you can be transferred or join the new A-kassa through this link. It is important to mark ”Olen temeläinen (I’m a member of Teme)” to the further information bracket when joining.

What changes?

You can still receive earnings-related unemployment benefit after being a paying member of the fund for at least six months. This benefit accrues according to your employments. This perk is based on the Finnish law on unemployment security and concerns all funds. An essential change will happen with membership fees: the funds will not deduct your membership fee from their payments as before, and in the future all members must make their payments themselves – also during unemployment.

Do this if you become unemployed or receive income during your unemployment

The unemployment fund will pay benefits and TEME will only advice on unemployment matters. If you are laid off, you will need to ask for the layoff notification in writing, and also register as an unemployed job applicant on the TE-palvelut service. When you receive unemployment benefits, you may need to apply for a new tax card on this site.
